Probably every body is sick of hearing about 16 but, if you cant stand
another question, I'd like to draw on people's experiences. Respond off list if you like. So, I have a site-licensed version of 16 patched to .0.2. Using one computer I went to print a set of frequency tables. My computer promptly locked up at 100% cpu by spss and nothing printed until I killed spss after 20 minutes. At that time 30 or 40 pages began printing. I will swear up and down that 16 never worked this way earlier in the year but I couldn't prove it if I had to. If you have 16 does it run like this you when you print? How long does it tak you to print 30, 40, 60, or 100 pages of frequency tables? And, does your machine lock up before it starts printing. If you've had this problem and licked it, how did you do it? I'd like to know. I emailed spss support and somebody there replied that a more experienced rep had said "The user didn't wait long enough. For 50 pages they might need to wait an hour or so." By the way how does 17 work in this situation? Hello Gene,
The printing problem that you describe was filed as a bug for SPSS 16 and fixed in SPSS 17.0. One 58-page print job that hung in SPSS 16 printed in just less than 2 minutes in SPSS 17.
