I’m wondering if others have experienced this odd operation. When starting 21 (fully patched as of late July, let’s say) from the desktop icon for the first time since a restart, I sometimes get a ‘black screen of death’. Screen is black
and blank, timer icon is displayed and nothing happens. Perhaps something happens after a while but I’ve only waited at most 10 seconds. Pressing Escape key shows message box that spss is not responding and is checking for solutions. Apparently no solutions
are found because box closes. ‘Sometimes’ is getting more frequent. 21 was installed in June and problem has appeared in past 2 months. The computer is restarted overnight and the problem ‘always’ occurs on the first startup of the day.
