Dear SPSS-experts,
we still have a problem with SPSS Data Entry Builder 4.0:
We’d like to know how to create a set (for example of 4 “text box”
questions) with only numeric variables (for example variables with 8
characters).
When we define such a set, it is by default a set of string
variables. Changing the type of the first variable to numeric, we get
the warning: “Changing variable type may discard one or more of the
following, depending on the vonversions required: - Data values; -
Default value; - Value labels / Response items, - Checked / Unchecked
values; - Missing values; - Multiple response set membership; THIS
ACTION CANNOT BE UNDONE.”
Is there a way to easily define a set of numeric variables? That is, we
do not want to create a set of multiple response items, but a series of
"real" numeric vars, like income in certain time intervals. We layout
this set of variables as a "block" in the DE sheet and are looking for a
convenient way to create and place them there in one "production step".
Thanks for your help
Walter
