A question on SPSS

Mojdeh
Dear Discussion group members

In 2006 I saved the data in SPSS 13 and kept them until 2011 on a USB. Then in 2011, I removed all the data in the USB including my data in SPSS. When I needed the data again, I had to retrieve the data in SPSS 17.  The data are shown on the sheet (SPSS 17) but when I try  cross-tab or frequencies,a message says that the data is lost.
I know that SPSS 17  can read  SPSS 13 but I do not understand why it says that the data is lost.
Please could you help me in solving my problem over SPSS.
Best regards
Mojdeh

RE: A question on SPSS

After reading your old data into SPSS 17 before doing anything, use “save as” and save the data into a new SPSS 17 dataset on your hard drive than start analyzing.
