Hello. I am trying to build a Multidimensional Scaling model without the extra Categories modules in SPSS. My data is aggregate-level data with 7 brands going down the left side (rows) and a column for each of my 50 variables. Overall it is a 7 X 50 matrix.
The procedure that I have to use is ALSCAL. And it seems to work very well. It provides substantially intuitive coordinates for my 50 variables, and it tells a good story for my 2-D plot.
I now need two things that I cannot find in the SPSS documentation or on any websites. (1) First,
I would like to plot my 7 brands within the space of all my variables/attributes. But it does not automatically come out of ALSCAL. Can anyone suggest a way for me to get these coordinates? Or, please let me know what formulas and transformations I need to do with the variable coordinates to get the brand ones.
(2) I also need to super-impose about 10 more variables on the current map that came out of the initial ALSCAL run. Any suggestion are welcome.
Thank you.
