Adjusting the width of pivot tables

Dirk Martens
Problem: The width of pivot table columns, produced with SPSS 9 Tables
procedure, are depending on the labels of the columns.

Question 1: To produce a lot of tables with similar layout / column-widths
I'm looking for technique to do that. The script file from the Free
University in Berlin
(http://userpage.fu-berlin.de/~gruener/scripts/setColumnWidthsPivotTable.sbs)
is just an interactive version, where you have to enter the column-widths
for every table, which is not appropriate for lots of tables.
Does anybody has a better solution?

Question 2: With the CTables procedure from newer versions you can control
the width of the data columns with the MinColWidth and MaxColWith
parameters. The width of the row-label column is controled via the table
look file. But in two-dimensional tables this column is devided into two
areas: one for the variable label and one for the value labels beside. In
the table look file I can only define a min and max value which seems to be
used for both of them.
When I suppress the variable labels the value labels move to their place (to
the left) but the former value label column remains and wastes space.
How can I control the widths of these both columns within the row-label-area
(without doing it manually with the mouse)?

Any comment to one or both of these questions are very much appreciated,
thanks in advance.
