Approximating Age

leah rubin
Dear SPSS listserv,

I have a database that has one variable for month of death, one variable for year of death, and then year of birth.
I need to use these variables to determine a participants approximate age. I am sure not the best way to accomplish this. Would someone
be able to help me with the syntax?

Thanks in advance,
Leah

Re: Approximating Age

Tesiny, Ed

Leah,

The only variables you can work with here are year of death and year of birth.  Just a simple

Compute age=(yod-yob).

Or am I missing something?
