Auditing Environment

BLAND, GLEN
Good Morning everyone,

I recently joined this list and noticed everyone posting messages having
to do with social sciences.  I was wondering if anyone on this list has
had any experience using SPSS in an auditing environment.  I work in
internal auditing and I'm exploring the possibility of using SPSS for
our uses and what types of statistical analysis SPSS is capable of that
might help us in our audits.  If anyone has any experience/suggestions
please let me know.

Thank you in advance.

While at the US General Accounting Office, now renamed the Government
Accountability Office, for 21 years, I made extensive use of SPSS in a
wide range of evaluations  many were clearly in the domain of "audits".

SPSS has complex sampling, extensive data handling,  syntax the that
greatly aids "referencing", and the ability to retrieve data from a wide
variety of sources.

Specifics would depend on what kinds of audits you are contemplating.
