Screenshots don't come through, but
I think you are seeing the video acceleration problem. Some video
drivers have a problem such as you describe. You can turn off video
acceleration by right clicking on the desktop and choosing Properties>Settings>Advanced
(exact menus vary depending on the video driver you use), or do this.
Create a file named
DirectDrawOff.txt
in the SPSS installation directory.
Contents do not matter. If SPSS sees this file, it will suppress
video acceleration for the app.

I get an occasional, but recurring problem,
when using the GUI in 18. See screenshots below. Sometimes
the whole screenshoot gets blanked out.
I'm using it with Windows 200 XP Pro on a
(2003) HP Pavilion 1 gb of RAM. 18 seems to swallow memory, but I
have no problems when using 15.
I could upgrade to 2gb memory, but would
that make any difference? I've thought about getting another computer,
but this would mean Windows 7 and all the other software updates around:
installing all the software was a nightmare last time I changed.
Any idea as to what's going on? Has
someone at SPSS been sticking pins in my effigy?
