Book recommendations for Sensitivity, Specificity, and ROC analysis

Happy new year and thank-you for your time in advance for your
collective wisdom. Could anyone please recommend good books books/
journal papers for Sensitivity, specificity, and ROC analysis,
specifically in relation to instrument testing? (theory and technical
practice?)

The definitive source would be Margaret Pepe's book, The Statistical
Evaluation of Medical Tests for Classification and Prediction (Oxford
Statistical Science Series).

I also have some additional references at my website. It's a
hodge-podge, but you might find it helpful.

You will also find links to a small invention of mine, the likelihood
ratio slide rule. It's a portable version of the Fagan nomogram. I've
found that all the discussion of sensitivity and specificity was quite
confusing until I read about likelihood ratios. You should definitely
try attacking your problem from the likelihood ratio angle.

You might find the following papers helpful. They focus on the prediction of
violence, but go deeply into the logic of sensitivity, specificity, ROC
analysis, and related issues in psychiatric assessment.

Fazel et al (2012).  Use of risk assessment instruments to predict violence

Hi there, thank-you so much for your reply, i look forward to getting
hold of that book, the website also looks like a great collective of
information (i will be getting stuck in there too). Thank-you so much
everyone for the replies, very happy I sought assistance and will be
