Bootstrap

Jordan Kennedy
A quick question about the bootstrap procedure in GLM-Univariate (and
all bootstrap procedures in SPSS 20). Is there a way to specify a
percentage of the sample that one would like to use in each sample
draw (e.g., 90%). Right now it appears that the default with the
bootstrap is to leave out individual cases in each sample draw. Thanks
in advance!

Re: Bootstrap

Alex Reutter
Hi Jordan,

Bootstrapping takes samples the size of the original dataset with replacement.  If the original dataset has 1000 cases, then each bootstrap sample has 1000 cases, but some cases will be represented more than once, while others not at all.

Alex is correct. The leave one out procedure is called the jackknife.
