CALL FOR PAPERS ON USE OF HIERARCHICAL LINEAR/MULTILEVEL MODELING

G David Garson
CALL FOR PAPERS ON USE OF HIERARCHICAL LINEAR/MULTILEVEL MODELING
Short book chapter proposals are solicited which illustrate various
hierarchical linear / multilevel models for instructional purposes.
Chapters, which need not be wholly original material and may be based on
previous work by the author, are to be approximately 20 double-spaced
manuscript pages and will illustrate an application of one of the following:

       1. Random intercept model s with level 1 predictors (aka,
"one-way ANCOVA with random effects")
       2. Random intercept model s with level 2 predictors (aka, "random
intercept regression model" or
     "means-as-outcomes regression model")
       3. Random intercept model s with both level 1 and 2 predictors
       4. Random coefficients regression models  (slope and intercept
modeled, no level 2 predictors)
       5. Full random coefficients model s (does have level 2
predictors)(aka " intercepts-and-slopes-as-
     outcomes model")
       6. Three-level  random coefficients models
       7. Repeated measures models (individuals at level 1, time at level 2)
       8. Random coefficients growth (longitudinal) models
       9. Multivariate multilevel models (multiple dependents at level
1, individuals at level 2, grouping at
level 3). Includes multilevel latent construct models.
       10. Cross-classified multilevel models

Application chapters are intended to cover foundational knowledge for
introductory graduate instruction. As such, they are pedagogically
oriented, emphasizing methodological steps, obtaining output (focus on
HLM, SPSS, or Stata), interpreting output tables, and presentation of
findings. Correspondingly, chapters will deemphasize disciplinary
concerns and findings other than the central finding.  Chapters will be
part of a book with Sage Publications (already contracted) which also
contains textbook overview chapters covering multilevel modeling.

Chapters will be peer-reviewed and participation in the peer review
process is a requirement for authors contributing chapters to this
volume. As the content is to be basic and the manuscript length short,
drafts will be due approximately June 1, 2011.  Proposals may still be
sent now and will be considered for acceptance until February 15, 2011,
or until a sufficient number and diversity have been accepted.  Authors
whose work is accepted will receive a copy of the final work and $300 in
credit toward purchase of Sage publications, which include numerous
titles in research methodology.

Short proposals (ex. 1-3 pages) are sufficient but should include a
provisional title, an indication of which of the ten topics listed above
best represents the work, an indication of the software used, a very
brief description of the central finding, and a brief biographical
sketch of the author. Send to [hidden email]. Be careful to start
the "Subject" line with "SAGE BOOK" to avoid the spam filter.  Further
questions regarding this publishing opportunity may be sent to the same
email address.

Sincerely,
G. David Garson
