Calculate probability of T value

Brock-15
I know this is a very basic question, but I have summary statistics only (not
the raw data) and I want to do a one sample t-test.  What is the best way to
go about this?

Calculate T and then find the probability of that statistic?  I know I can use
TDIST in Excel, but what is the equvialent in SPSS?  I am trying to work
through some examples online and I am not getting the same
results....obviously it is me and not SPSS.

In short, I actually have never calculated p by hand summarized data and
simply want to give it a shot.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Brock

Re: Calculate probability of T value

Dear Brock,

This seems to work (2 sided probability):

data lis free/tvalue df.
begin data
1 1 1,96 1000
end data.
comp sig=2*(1-cdf.t(tvalue,df)).
exe.

Kind regards,

Ruben van den Berg
