Use unadjusted variances to estimate the SD for effect sizes in ANCOVA.
They are more meaningful.

Subject: Calculating Cohen's D from ANCOVA results
Dear Listers-
I like to know the proper way to compute Cohen's D using the adjusted
means
from ANCOVA results. Can I convert the standard errors of the adjusted
means into variances or should I simply use the unadjusted variances?
Thanks, in advance.
Anton
