Can do Anything on my PC when running Syntax (v 14)

Edward Boadi
Dear List.

I can not do anything on my PC when running SPSS  v 14 syntax . The Data and output  window keeps popping and closing making it impossible to
do any other work till running of the syntax is over.

I guess there is a way to stop this . Your advice will be very much appreciated.

Regards.

I'm not sure what you mean by closing? Although 15 gives you syntactical control on closing windows, I'm don't know if you can do this in 14.  You can control the output window from "popping" from Edit>Options. Uncheck Raise viewer window on the General tab.

When you open a data file via syntax it raise the Data window. I'm don't know if you can prevent this from happening.

Thanks Beadle, my syntax open a lot of data files and I wish I could prevent
the data window from opening anytime a data file is opened.

Plo command on GLM

Maguin, Eugene
In reply to this post by Beadle, ViAnn
All,

I just ran the following command

GLM P2CTSM2 BY GROUPN WITH P1CTSM2/PLOT PROFILE(GROUPN)/
   DESIGN GROUPN P1CTSM2 GROUPN*P1CTSM2.

What I expected to get, based on the documentation, was a plot with two
lines, one for each value of Groupn. What I got instead was a plot with two
hash marks on the x axis, labeled correctly and separated by about 2.5
inches but only one line. The documentation is pretty clear that I should
get one line for each level of Groupn.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks, Gene Maguin
