Jan,
Briefly,
Edit -> options. General tab. Left hand column 'look and feel'. Unclick
'open one dataset at at time'.

Subject: Can't keep two datasets open
Hi,
Suddenly, SPSS will not let me keep two dataset open at the same time.
When I use file-open-data and select a dataset, it opens but the dataset
that was already open closes. Also, instead of numbering the dataset as
I am used to, SPSS calls the open dataset [$DataSet].
Also, the output window has a warning: "the active dataset will replace
the existing dataset named $DataSet".
I've tried various sequences of opening the datasets and it doesn't
matter which one I open first.
I also closed SPSS and re-opened it with no luck.
It will open two syntax files.
Thanks for any help,
Jan
