Hello,
I am using SPSS v15 to open Excel files (saved as Excel 97-2003 format). I've done this hundreds of times, but today I am getting one of three types of error messages--I don't get all three at once, they are mutually exclusive. This literally started overnight.
1. One error message reads "Error accessing the Excel file. This file may be open by another application....." The file is not open or being used by another application.
2. Another reads: General networks communications error occured in the Excel DAC Proxy"
3. Another reads: "Instructions at 0x7c911daf referenced memory at 0x0f3feff8. This memory cound not be read. Click on OK to terminate program.
When the Excel file is on the network I get any one of the messages. When the file is on my c-drive I get errors 1 or 2.
Using SPSS v17 produces message 1 only.
Any advice is greatly appreciated. For now I'm trying to determine if it is SPSS or the network
