Case wise manipulations and calculations

Hi List,

I want to do some calcualtions casewise ,so is it possible in SPSS. 

say for example in the below series of data for various district from 1 to 30. And for gender wise,region wise. So now I need to see birht rates,for that I have populations for each district and urban, rural wise,now the problem is i am doin it using custom tables,so i need to  generate it automatically......to fill the gaps for Birth rates(note i have rural and urban and total popu;lations separately given for each districts and for each level of the distircts:rural and urban),

so is this possible?

                         male   female total     Birth rates

1.district1 urban 6874    6338   13212   ?

                rural   19313 18497   37810  ?

                total   26187  <a href="tel:24835%20%C2%A051022" value="[phone]" target="_blank">24835  51022   ?

In the meantime, also look at the AGGREGATE command.  It sounds like it might fit what you are requesting.

How did you parse AGGREGATE out of that gobblygook?

Thank you very much for the suggestions.

After a series of trial and error I found my mistakes. The solution was to merge correctly and aggregate using the break variables of interest.Thank you Melissa.
