To SPSS Support: Apologies to the list—the SPSS support website is not
accepting contacts today. I am experiencing the following catastrophic error: “The SPSS Statistics processor is terminating due to a
catastrophic error. Any working data file is lost. A program error has occurred:
A procedure has called OBSERV after having received an end of file indication. A
second pass of the data involves calling OPBINI again. Please note the
circumstances under which this error as occuprred, attempting to replicate it
if possible, then notify Technical Support” The error is associated with the MATCH FILES command: MATCH FILES FILE = * /TABLE = site_dim /BY site_id. Both datasets are opened and named. Both datasets have been
sorted on site_id. I am able to replicate the error. I have deleted temp files as directed in resolution 18740 (found
by a search on “OBPINI”). I have rebooted (repeatedly). Pls advise Jim Marks Director, Market Research x1616 |

We're working with Jim on the problem
with the catastrophic error. In the past, this kind of error has been associated
with a full temporary directory.
On the issue of the web site, there
was a problem wherein if you were logged in as guest and clicked on the "Contact
Us" link, you were instructed to contact an administrator. That has been fixed.
Our apologies to anyone who encountered it.
However, you have to be logged in as a specific person rather than as
guest in order to be able to submit a support case. The web site
was accepting cases yesterday as long as you were logged in as a specific
person rather than as guest.
