Hi all- I'm doing longitudinal grade comparisons to determine whether the proportion of students doing poorly in certain courses is increasing. Since I only have two years of data to work with, the basic analysis is a pretty straightforward chi square. However, it's not clear to me how to do cell comparisons, since spss output provides what is basically an omnibus statistic (i.e. is the distribution nonrandom). Can anyone provide guidance as to how to perform an analog to an anova post hoc test for specific contrasts (e.g. # of F's Year1 vs # of F's year2)? Does spss (v16) even have such a test in it? I suppose I could do a separate analysis for each grade response, but I'd prefer to not use such a brute-force (and statistically questionable) approach.
Thanks Doug
