My employer upgraded my version of SPSS from v12 to v16 last year, and
ever since I've had problems whenever I print a chart in color. The
problem is that the colors on the display are completely different from
those on the printed paper. Sometimes it's a shade difference, say red
on-screen and pink printout, other times green/brown.
It's a regular relationship between the color pallate on-screen and the
printout (i.e., red on-screen always prints pink), but I usually have to
print 10-15 copies of a chart until the printed version looks something
like I wanted it to look like in the first place. Very frustating.
I know the problem is in the SPSS print driver because I can save the
chart to a jpg file, open the jpg in a photo program and print it, and
the colors match up just fine. And it's with both Windows XP and Vista.
It's as though the print driver is using a different color system for
printing (e.g., CMYK versus RGB). Is there a hidden setting somewhere
that I haven't been able to find?
The printer is an HP 3800 Color LaserJet, and I don't have this problem
with any other applications, nor did I have it with older versions of
SPSS. The printer drivers are current. I've searched the Listserve
archives and can't find any reference to this problem, nor does a search
of the SPSS and HP websites turn up anything.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
