Converting numeric variable to string

Caleb Ouma
Hallo all,
I collected data and some of the data entry clerks changed my the format of the SPSS entry screen. For me to merge them I have to convert either the strings to numeric or the other way.

Any idea that can help without messing with the var name and position.

Re: Converting numeric variable to string

Peck, Jon

If you have version 16 or later, you can use the ALTER TYPE command to do this.  You can do this in the Data Editor, too, but that would be pretty tedious if there are more than a few variables to fix.

HTH,

Jon Peck
