Covariances for mean squares

Margaret MacDougall
Hello

I have calculated two intra-class correlation coefficients under the assumption in each case of a two-way mixed model with Cronbach's alpha. The two coefficients correspond to methods 1 and 2.

I would like to calculate the covariance between the mean square of the residuals for method 1 with that for method 2 (that is, the corresponding MS_E's, in the language of McGraw and Wong (1996)). The subjects involved in methods 1 and 2 are matched.

Is it possible to perform this calculation in SPSS and in particular, if so, can you provide the necessary syntax, please. I hope that I don't have to start from scratch!

By the way, the MS_E's are not independent.

  Many thanks

  Best wishes

  Margaret
