IIRC, you have to export your images as png format to get the transparency.

I'm creating a series of bar graphs which are then exported as a Powerpoint
file. A color tint background is used in the Powerpoint slides, but the
graphs created in SPSS show up with a white background, instead of allowing
the tint to show through. I have the border and chart fill set to
"transparent" but that doesn't solve the problem.
Can SPSS generate graphs that will have a "transparent" fill and border,
allowing the Powerpoint background fill to show through?
