Cut variable list in SPSSINC SELECT command

MKaukal
Dear subscribers,

I am totally confused about using SPSSINC SELECT Variables, because its not working as I supposed it would do. So I am asking for your help hoping someone has an answer.

The problem is that after defining a macro list of variables (criteria is numeric) and using it in Missing Values command SPSS tells me that there is an unknown variable so the command breaks up.

After a few try and error steps it seems to be that somehow the variablelist within the macro is cut off by a distinct number of character which could be something around 600. Interestingly, the option Print shows me a full list of variables without a cutoff.

My question is: is it possible that the length of the variable list is determined by the width of the syntax window so not infinite variables can be stored in such a macro?

Thanks a lot,

Malte

The macro definition is being truncated by the macro buffer size because of the large number of variables.  I have posted a new version (1.2.1) that fixes this problem to the SPSS Community site.  You can download it from that site (www.ibm.com/developerworks/spssdevcentral) in the Extension Commands collection or directly in V22 via Utilities > Download and Install Extension Commands.  Remember to do this running Statistics with Run As Administrator if you are on Win7 or similar.
