I want to delete all variables.
DELETE VARIABLES doesn't work. It affects nothing. I don't want to specify each name. I need something like a wildcard (*) for all variables. Is it possible. ===================== To manage your subscription to SPSSX-L, send a message to [hidden email] (not to SPSSX-L), with no body text except the command. To leave the list, send the command SIGNOFF SPSSX-L For a list of commands to manage subscriptions, send the command INFO REFCARD |

"You cannot use this command to delete all variables in the active dataset. If the variable list includes all variables in the active dataset, an error results and the command is not executed. Use NEW FILE to delete all variables."

If there is a different
dataset open, DATASET CLOSE should accomplish what the OP asks
about.
