Data reduction

Caleb Ouma
Hallo All,
I am looking at some data with cropping type by fields. If a crop is intercropped then they fall under the same field number i.e either 1,2 ... to the highest. i.e if three crops are intercrpped then the field variable is given the same number, else they have different numbers.

I need to identify the fields which are intercropped vs pure stands (the ones that are not intercropped). In SPSS how do I go thru this problem

Well, there's always (not tested),

AGGREGATE OUTFILE=* MODE=ADDVARIABLES
   /BREAK=field
/NCrops 'Number of crops in this field'=NU.
