DataSet, Get, Save showing files in 8.3 when using point and click

Maclennan, Graeme S.
Dear SPSSers, I am using version 17.0.1. Recently patch was automatically installed and after this I noticed that in the output viewer displays the dataset as:
[DataSet1] S:\ProgStat\KAT_ST~1\ECONOM~1\MINIMI~1.SAV

The title bar of files also open displays this, and they are named as such in the toolbar in Windows XP.  Perhaps I have inadvertently clicked something to switch this option on?  Does anyone know how to revert to displaying full file names (it's a little inconvenient if you name files sequentially and cant read full names).

Regards,
Graeme.

Re: DataSet, Get, Save showing files in 8.3 when using point and click

Peck, Jon
I don't see this behavior with 17.0.1.  It appears that you are connecting to a network drive.  What type of network is it, and how is it accessed?  Some network file systems can appear as DOS file systems that don't support long file names, which might cause this behavior.  I'd be surprised, though, if 17.0.0 to 17.0.1 would have had any effect on this behavior.

Jon Peck
