Dataset Does Not Exist Error

Robert Walker

Hi,

What would trigger an intermittent “Client requested dataset does not exist on the server” error? I’m running reports using macros. My routine runs as a batch job (it sequentially calls four different syntax files using INSERT FILE). The files create and close various datasets, and when I run the syntax files manually, I get no error. Ideas?

Thanks

Hi Bob,

With "batch job" do you mean Statistics B (SPSSB, part of SPSS Statistics Server)? Or a regular Production Facility job using SPSS Client? Maybe you have written the job for SPSS client and you are using relative paths inside it? That may cause errors when it is run on the server. Using a file handles, cd commands or full UNC paths might solve the problem.
