Defined Multiple Response fields and Split file doesn't seem to work together

Is a defined Multiple Response Field a fixed entity. Once defined can it vary? I am attempting to run a multiple response field frequency with Split File applied and am getting unexpected results. Am I doing something wrong? Regards

It could be your split file.  Send us your syntax and a sample of the data.  In the meantime have a look at MULT RESPONSE in the manual and also the tutorials on http://surveyresearch.weebly.com/33-multiple-response-mult-response.html   Try that instead to see if the same thing happens.

Please provide a more detailed question.

What is the overall goal of your effort?

What would the results you would want look like?

Are your split files groups mutually exclusive? If so, why wouldn't BY in MULT RESPONSE of CTABLES meet you needs?

If the values of the underlying variables that comprise the multiple response set change, then the multiple response values will also change. While you can use a multiple response set like a variable in some procedures, it is really just a calculation based on values of variables specified in the multiple response set definition.
