Difficulties in bootstrapping the mean

James Buckley-3
Dear all,

I am relatively new to the use of syntax in spss and have been reading a lot
about the basic syntax commands and the use of macros, but am experiencing
difficulties in using bootstrap macros.

I have a list of 47 butterflies and their first emergence date (in Julian
date format) and want to create 1000 bootstrap samples and subsequently
calculate the mean for each sample.

I tried using (and attempting to change where necessary) some of the
provided macros (e.g. 'Bootstrap the mean and median' by David Marso and OMS
bootstrap syntax provided by spss) but can not produce the new data set with
the means and standard errors of each bootstrap sample.

Does anyone know why I might be having such a problem and, if so, how I
could attempt to resolve it?

Many thanks

James Buckley
