Discriminant analysis

Moshe Marko
Hi,

I am trying to find strength threshold separating persons with and without
mobility difficulty. using the discrimanant analysis. Conducting the
discriminant analysis is there a way for me to know which level of strength
best differentiate between the groups? is there a reason that I should use
the discriminant analysis in place of the decision tree method?

Thanks

Moshe

I'd recommend that you use logistic regression instead of discriminant function analysis (DFA).  Logistic regression has fewer restrictive assumptions than DFA.  Its exponentiated linear function produces the probability of group membership.  You can also use the ROC curve to determine optimal cutoffs.  Logistic regression has several model fit indices to assess the adequacy of your model.
