All,
The IBM website is very poor because it is difficult to know what one is downloading. Maybe to those with more experience it is not so, but not to someone new to IBM. I need to make sure I am executing the correct file(s) because things have become so complicated that if one executes the wrong file who knows what other problems it may cause, or what might be put on ones computer that cannot be removed. You may have seen one of my earlier messages where I downloaded the trial version of Python Essentials. The file I downloaded, but which I haven't executed yet, is called SPSS_STATSPYT_PLG-INTRL64B21.0W1NML.exe I was told that the file I should download (because it has been updated but the trial version has not) and execute instead is at the Fix Central website and it called 21.0-IM-S21STATPE-WIN64-FP001.exe Without going into a lot of details as to why, I am doubting that the file from Fix Central is a stand alone executable file that will install Python Essentials. It appears it may be a patch. My question to anyone who has installed Python Essentials is this: is the Fix Central file the only file I need to execute to install Python Essentials, or do I need to execute SPSS_STATSPYT_PLG-INTRL64B21.0W1NML.exe first and then execute 21.0-IM-S21STATPE-WIN64-FP001.exe? is the correct file, and there is no need to install the original V21 Essentials first. When you install this, like other installs, it will appear in the Windows Control Panel, and it could be uninstalled from there.
