Entering data to SPSS!!!

sara2016
Hi,

I need to help please! I want to enter my data into SPSS but I am not quite
sure of the variables I need to have. My study looks at students' vocabulary
gains from three input modes(Reading, listening, reading while listening)
when the number of repetitions of words is controlled across the text.

So Each participant: First read a passage and complete three separate tests
(multiple choice, fill in the blanks, and familiarity rating), Then Listen
to a passage and complete three tests , Latter read while listen and
complete three tests. So each participant has to complete 9 tests in total.
Each passage that participants going to read, listen, read while listen has
a set of novel words, existing English words, and fillers. Theses words are
presented in the text with different frequency of occurrence. For example,
passage one includes 10 words:  3 repeated twice, 3 repeated four times, 4
repeated 6 times.

My aim is to compare the participants vocabulary gains in reading vs.
listening vs. reading while listening,  and to look at the effects of
repetition on vocabulary learning when a set of words are repeated twice and
another set of words are repeated (2, 4,and 6) throughout the text.  I have
two groups of participants: low-level learners and high-level learners.

I want to compare the scores of two participants groups in each input mode
and each test types:
their scores in READING- ( multiple choice)
their scores in READING - (gap-filling)
their scores in READING in test 3 (familiarity rate),

So I think I need to create these variables:
1-groups: 1,2
2-Reading scores in multiple choice test
3-Reading scores in gap-filling test
4-reading scores in the familiarity rate test

5-Listening scores in the multiple choice test
6-listening scores in the gap-filling test
7-listening scores in the familiarity test

8-reading while listening scores in the multiple choice test
9-reading while listening scores in the gap-filling test
10-reading while listening scores in the familiarity

Not sure what variables to create for the frequency of words? shall i have:
1-existing E words frequency2
2-Novel words frequency2, Novel words frequency4, novel words frequency6
3-fillers
and enter the score students achieved in each!

Thanks
