Entering different fractions etc

Hi I am really new to spss and need to get up to speed for a research projects later in the year.
I can get some of the basics but cant find how to enter the following On a scale of 1-15 if the score is say 9 I enter that in the data view. what I cna get is how to enter or set this up the variable view. The reason being is that I need to use say 25 clients who are rated on this measurem,ent with a range of scores between 1-15. I hope someone can help many thanks Doug |

Your most productive option would be to start with the tutorial, which can be found under help at the right of the top ribbon on the screen.
To do what you specifically want, click on the rightmost tab at the bottom, called "variable view" and define your variables, which should be pretty straightforward, you only need name, type, width and decimals to get started. Then click on the leftmost tabl at the bottom to start entering data. In practice you will want more than one variable, to hold other relevant details for your analysis, but the tutorial would do a much better job than I could to take you through it all. |

It seems like you are saying that you do not know how to use the variable view tab to set up the column (variable) names. I don't mean to be insulting but have you looked the documentation in the help system. If that is not what you're asking about then you've given a really bad explanation of the problem. GeneMaguin
