Error # 1400. Input error when reading a case.

Ruben Geert van den Berg
Dear all,

I read a large EXCEL sheet into SPSS, did some data editing and then saved it as .sav file. However, after closing and opening this file, it seems to have corrupted quite badly. I only get this message:

>Error # 1400. Command name: SORT CASES BY
>Input error when reading a case.
>This command not executed.

Any changes made to the working file since 13-NOV-2008 19:19:18 have been lost.
The time now is 12:13:26.

Now if I delete this file and recreate it from EXCEL, it's fine. But as soon as I close and open it, the problem reappears.

Is there any way to avoid this and make the data file a 'healthy' .sav file? I'm using SPSS version 14.TIA,

Ruben
