Error: (2067) The Excel file is password protected. Unable to open the file.

Hello everybody,

For my study I have to use SPSS. I used an online survey tool where I had the opportunity to download the result in an Excel file. Thereafter I tried to open the file in SPSS. However, it keeps showing the error 'Error: (2067) The Excel file is password protected. Unable to open the file.' This is strange since I never gave it a password and I don't have the opportunity to remove a password somewhere.

I hope somebody can help me with this.

Thanks in advance!

Can you open the file in Excel?  If so, resave it and try opening it in Statistics again.  Excel file formats are complex, and there are lot of pseudo-Excel files out there.

Adding to Jon's comment.
If for some reason you don't have Excel you can try the same exercise with Open Office (Free with much of the same functionality as M$ Office).
