I have got this client who wants to study a particular group of dental patients. The design is fairly straightforward (not necessarily optimal):
*From a group of 3000 patients, a (proportional) stratified sample of 250 patients has been drawn using one categorical variable defining 4 different patient categories, sex and age group for stratification, where their records have been drawn and examined.
*From another larger set of patients of 75 000 patients, a sample of 250 matched individuals has been drawn, and these have been matched with the patients in the first sample on sex and age.
*The intention is to estimate some fairly basic features in the samples and also to make comparisons between the two data sets.
The question now is that I don't know how to proceed with the analysis. Is this, i e a combination of a stratified sample and a matched set of individuals, a design which can be handled by the Complex Samples module? Pointers to other options?
