Exporting an SPSS .sav file into Microsoft Access database version 2003

Peter Watson-7

Dear all,

Does anyone know how to export a SPSS data file into Microsoft ACCESS 2003?

A colleague has been trying to do this without success and I thought

someone out there might be able to help!

If anyone has any advice I can pass this on to him,

With many thanks

Peter

To export to MS Office using the database wizard, you need the proper ODBC drivers.  In particular,  you have to match the bitness of Office and Statistics - both 64-bit or both 32-bit.  Most users are running 64-bit Statistics, but MS has been slow/reluctant to move people to 64-bit Office, so I think the vast majority are running 32-bit Office.

If all else fails, you can save the data in Excel format using SAVE TRANSLATE, which does not use ODBC, and read the Excel file into Access.  You  could also export as csv.
