Hi
I am trying to export SPSS Output to Excel. I have 8 outputs in total, I have exported each individually and then combined them all into one excel file consisting of 8 spreadsheets. This was only successful after numerous attempts(excel kept crashing when attempting to move spreadsheets). The resulting file(containing all 8 outputs, sized only 450KB), when opened instantly crashes. When it does manage to open successfully, it sooner or later crashes. I have noticed excel files to crash more frequently when they are an export of SPSS output. I am using SPSS 14 and MS Excel 2003. Any suggestion to how to overcome this ? Any reasoning why this happening? I've also tried on a better spec'ed PC and the same problem occurs. Many thanks in advance |
I have long had the same problem with excel and SPSS working together, there
is a workaround for fixing the excel file, a way of saving a new copy so it does not continually crash. In Excel, go to SAVE AS, Pick a new file name, you will notice a box directly below where you type in the file name called save as type. Change the type of the file to a Microsoft Excel 5.0 workbook and save it, when you open it again it should be able to be resaved as a newer excel file, and it won't crash. With regards to exporting multiple outputs into one file, the best way to do it is to select all of the outputs in the output tree pane at the same time, then export to excel as usual, there should be a box in the export window that says "Export Selected" or something similar this is what you want to do. Hope this is helpful Don On 1/19/07, Jignesh Sutar <[hidden email]> wrote: > > Hi > > I am trying to export SPSS Output to Excel. Thanks for your response.
I have the option to save file type as 'Microsoft Excel 5.0/95 Workbook'. Though when I select this option a random 1KB file is created, which isn't readable by excel. The other option available is to save as 'Microsoft Excel 97 - Excel 2003 & 5.0/95 Workbook'. This option crashes excel when attempting to save. Any further suggestions??
