The potential puns on the title and post are too great for me to pass up. Selfishly I was hoping it was an advertisement for a self help book on living with my receding hairline (I'm hoping I'm not regressing in too many other faculties!)

I think Galton may disagree with the results of the different methods -- regression to mediocrity is an inevitable fact of life -- although his observations do not extend to life on Mars. I wonder if child trees in random forests tend to be closer to the average height of trees than to their parents height?
