Dear SPSS users
We have done a hierarchical factor analysis using SPSS. We then computed the "Schmid-Leiman Solution" with syntax written by Wolff and Preising, Behavior Research Methods, 2005, 37(1), 48-58. But now, we need the factor score coefficients in order to compute the factor scores. Therefore, my questions: How do I compute these factor score coefficients from the Schmid-Leiman Solution? Is there any syntax for doing that in SPSS? Is it completely wrong to use the factor loadings instead the factor score coefficients in order to compute the factor scores? Thanks for help in advance Best regards Juergen ----------------------------------------------------------- Juergen Haenggi Ph.D. (Dr. des.) Juergen,
I do not have the answer to your main question, but I do know that it is wrong to use factor loadings to compute factor scores. Factor loadings play a role in the prediction of observed variables as a function of the underlying factors, not the converse.
