Hi:
I am using SPSS ver 14 and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to change the default directory to which files will be saved. For example, my program files are on drive c: However, I save my files on a different drive (e.g., drive d:). SPSS goes to drive c: whenever I try to save something and I always have to change directors (and go through the whole directory tree of d: to get to where I want to save my files). Thanks, John. ___________________________________ Prof. John Antonakis School of Management and Economics University of Lausanne Internef #527 CH-1015 Lausanne-Dorigny Switzerland Tel: ++41 (0)21 692-3438 Fax: ++41 (0)21 692-3305 http://www.hec.unil.ch/jantonakis ___________________________________ |
Try the command CD, for example:
CD 'D:\Directory\Subdirectory\' Otherwise edit the SPSS short-cut properties (access using a right-click) you will see an option "Start in". Modify this property to reflect the default directory for file browsing from the SPSS client. John,
One easy way to do this, if you have the SPSS icon on your desktop, is to right click on the icon, from the menu select Properties, in the Shortcut tab go to the "Start in:" field and enter your preferred location, e.g., "D:\My Documents", don't forget the double-quotes! Hi Dominic and Jason:
Your trick worked (I was looking for a "File Location" option, similar to what other programs have)! Thank you very much.
