Norm, SPSS can handle larger file sizes. I often run jobs on files of that size. Without know the specific of your job, my guess is that missing data are being treated differently (pairwise versus listwise).

Fellow Listers:
I've run up against a file size issue. My SAS colleagues in the office are finding 1.9M records in a certain dbf file. I am finding roughly 1.6M records in the same file, using SPSS 11 (old, yes, but still kicking). It has been suggested that SPSS is randomly dropping records. That has not happened in my experience. Is there a default file size limit in SPSS? Can it be extended to accommodate larger file sizes.
