I have been reading Nathan Yau, and I am fascinated with taking my GPL results, and adding my own legends, comments, finishing touches etc. in design software. He uses Abobe's product, and recommends the shareware Inkscape to try. I've always liked GPL, and I think this might help me produce truly publication ready graphics.
I'm a little worried about the learning curve of pulling all of this together since I will be a rank beginner with the . Yau starts with ggplot2 graphics, and finishes them in Illustrator, so the premise seems sound. Has anyone on the list tried anything like this? If so, would you encourage me or discourage me from heading down this path. -- http://about.me/keithmccormick |

Agreed. I have to start somewhere ...
I was just hoping that someone would be able to tell me that it was a fruitful endeavor. I've always felt that GPL hasn't gotten the attention it deserves, so I am afraid that no one has tried to combine it with design software yet. I hope I am wrong. If not, and I make progress, I will try to spread the word.
