Frequency tables

Wade Hiscock

Hi all,

I am working with a huge database of length data and I was able to create a new variable using the visual bander.  This new variable is based on 2 mm length bins which has well over 200 unique bins in it.  When I produce a frequency table with the new binned data  any bins with no values are left out of the table.  Is there a way to produce the table so that bins with no data still show up but with a zero value for frequency?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers!

To obtain slots as placeholders for empty values in a frequency table, you have to have defined value labels for each slot and use the CTABLES command (available from the menu as Custom Tables. IIRC, the visual bander creates value labels for you. CTABLES is a separate option. The alternative is to display the distribution as a histogram chart. Given 200 bins, that is probably the best way to look at the data.

In SPSS 17, you can use the CODEBOOK command, which is available in the Base system.
