I am curious if anyone can tell me what just happened!
I had been running a copy of SPSS 15 (even though PASW 17 has been installed on my machine for about three months). On Friday, while in the middle of doing something my computer froze and I had to manually shut it down. Upon reboot SPSS 15 no longer worked. When I click on SPSS 15 icon I get a screen asking me for "Server Login: (none): Local computer" if I click on Local computer I get a message that "The client software could not initialize on Local Computer. Verify the integrity of the SPSS Registry file: spssd.conf ....". My office has a lic copy of SPSS 15, but PASW 17 was installed via college server.
The spssd.conf file is in the SPSS program folder.
Any idea if I can get SPSS 15 back??
Thanks,
John

Hi John, From the support.spss.com Knowledge Base: The result is either a missing or corrupt spssd.conf located
in the SPSS directory. This problem can be resolved by replacing the file
either by reinstalling SPSS, obtaining a new copy of that file from a working
version of SPSS, or from the SPSS FTP site. To download the file from the ftp
site, please enter the following address into the address line in your browser:
ftp://ftp.spss.com/pub/spss/windows/26567 and select the corresponding SPSS
version. Hope this helps. Kylie. From: SPSSX(r) Discussion
