When trying to shorten a GENLIN command by using a shortened list of variables (with the command "to"), SPSS returns an error message.

Variable name to specified for subcommand MODEL is not a valid variable name.
Execution of this command stops.

Frank, rather than using (what appears to be) 33 dummy variables each for team 1 and team 2, why not use two categorical variables TEAM1 and TEAM2, each having 34 possible values?  These could then be included as "factors" (following the keyword BY) rather than as "covariates" (which follow the keyword WITH).  E.g.,

GENLIN TotalScore WITH GoalT1_mean GoalT2_mean BY Team1 Team2
  /MODEL GoalT1_mean GoalT2_mean Team1 Team2 INTERCEPT=YES
 DISTRIBUTION=NEGBIN(1) LINK=LOG
