I posted this problem a few days ago. On SPSS 14, only with the graphs
generated by the Trends module, the text for the Y axis label cannot be edited. Clicking on it will produce the blue band, but clicking again will not activate the text editor. All other text edits OK. Since then, I downloaded the latest patch. No change. I tried recreating the graphs. No change. Can anyone help me with a way around this problem? I've tried exporting it and then editing it in Word, but the text gets scrambled. Monica Malone |

When you edit graphs interactively, how is it journalled? If you're trying
lots of things on the same graph, is everything journalled? Or only the last settings when the viewer is saved, or what? I have an assistant who is proficient with Excel, but is just starting to learn SPSS. She is using the interactive graphs to try to change the colors and fills of bar graphs and histograms, but is running into problems. For example, she tries something, and it works, but then tries to do the same kind of thing to another part of the graph, and it doesn't work, and she can't see what she's doing differently, or why it won't let her do the second thing after letting her do "it" the first time. So far, she's just been using the menu system, and I hate to throw graph syntax at her too soon! Any help appreciated. BTW, she's using ver. 14. Bob Schacht Robert M. There is no "journaling" of changes to graphs but if you're using the
Interactive Graphs, about 90% of the edits can be done through a combination of keywords on the IGRAPH command and a saved ChartLook. ChartLooks don't contain any "structural" information but do contain color palettes, marker patterns, and text formatting. She might experiment with saving a new ChartLook after some successful edits and then either apply it manually after a new chart is created or specify it via the Options tab in the dialog before running the command. Chart Templates used for charts created by the GRAPH and GGRAPH command do contain "structural" information but are rather fragile, especially in releases before 15. -----Original Message----- From: SPSSX(r) Discussion [mailto:[hidden email]] On Behalf Of Bob Schacht Sent: Thursday, August 23, 2007 5:20 PM To: [hidden email] Subject: Graph journaling?
