Dear List: Here is a situation that I am trying to work with. I am
trying to help a colleague with her analyses of clinical data. Clients come to therapy and they are assessed for their levels l of functioning. They can have up to 32 sessions. Session I results are compared to session II results to see whether the client had clinical reliable change. Individuals are then categorized into 1 -clinical reliable change 0 -no clinical reliable change. This is continued until 32 sessions. However, most clients drop out from therapy some that have shown clinical reliable change while others drop out without showing clinical reliable change. Thus the number of sessions can vary from 1 to 32. Some clients may end therapy after 5 sessions and be classified as clinical reliable change. Other clients might go 5 sessions and still show no clinical reliable change. She wants to do Probit analysis but I have never done one and I am not sure what the variables should be. I have been able to figure out that the number of sessions is one of the variables. Questions that I have are the following: In probit it asks for Response Frequency [Select a response frequency variable. Each case should contain the number of individuals that responded when exposed to a particular stimulus level (or combination of stimulus levels, if you have several stimuli], Total Observed [Select an observed frequency variable. Each case should contain the total number of individuals exposed to a particular stimulus level or combination of stimulus levels], Factor [Estimates separate intercepts for subgroups. You must indicate which factor levels you want to use by defining the factor range], and Covariate. I am not exactly certain what variables to put in. I figured if I can run an example data set with Probit I would be able to figure out exactly what I need to extract from her data set. If anyone has the time and the inclination I would appreciate advice. Thanks, martin Martin F.
